This second BeatitudeBlessed Are The Meek For They Shall Inherit The Earth” deals with grief for sin and its numerous negative consequences.

On a most intimate level, the first Beatitudebeing “poor in spirit”—is about acknowledging our insignificance in comparison to God, but let’s dive into the second one!

Blessed Are The Meek – The Third Beatitude

A tamed horse and a Christian has a lot in common because of their “meekness” and “gentleness”.

A tamed horse is the one trained to obey the word of command,to obey the leader of the reins.

The opposite of tamed horse is a wild horse, which is uncontrollable animal that can make a lot of damage.
Yet if that wild horse, be tamed, his might can be used for good.

It will serve people.

The meekness, Christians have, is the fruit of the Holy Spirit. It is with the help and the work of the Holy Spirit in us, that the power we have inside can be used for good, a not for evil.

To serve people and not destroy them.

That could be possible, when that power, is under God’s control.

Meekness comes out of being teachable and following God’s lead in every way (Psalm 32:8-9). And Gentleness is manifested, as we seek what is best for others.

For They Shall Inherit The Earth

Many people believe that the inheritance in this scripture is only about the new earth (described in the book of Revelation).

Is unquestionable that those who are meek will inherit the new earth, but this scripture, it speaks about our earth (the earthly planet).

God promises the earth to those who fear Him (Psalm 25:12-13), to those who wait on Him (Psalm 37:9) and to the meek (Psalm 37:11 and Matthew 5:5).

What does it mean to be meek? Is it a weakness or boldness?

To answer that we should look at what is first of all the worldview of Meekness

The Worldview Of Meekness

The misconception of meekness is – allowing others to walk all over you, without you advocating for yourself.

And this idea is vividly shown in art, where Jesus who was painted crucified on the cross, which truly represents Him being abused, beaten to the degree beyond recognition (Isaiah 52:14; 53:5-7), is shown by artists as a helpless man.

This is the image, that’s completely opposite of Him and His nature.

Let me be clear.

Jesus Christ is the Only Begotten Son of the Living God.

He is God who came in flesh for the redemption of OUR sins.

That could be achieved, only when He will give His life for us, as a pure & perfect sacrifice.

That was the Will of the Heavenly Father (John 3:16).

He wasn’t helpless when He was hanging on the cross, nailed.

If He wanted, He could’ve called legions of angels, and all the heavens would have been trembling at His command and manifesting right there where He was (Matthew 26:53).

Yet, He came to fulfill God’s given purpose. So by submission to God, being obedient till death, He gave it all, to fulfill not His own but the Will of the Heavenly Father.

To have us, by loosing His own life.

So don’t forget, that Jesus standing on the cross, is no less God.

He is equally God than He was, before the cross, when walking and preaching, healing, and manifesting His Kingdom on this earth.

So, we shall know, in His meekness Jesus acted in GREAT power.

The power He had to stop the oppressors and their abuse, He chose not to use, in order to submit to the Will of the Heavenly Father.

To those who are confused, and struggling with guilt and humiliation, when you have shown meekness, know this empowering truth:

The world counted Jesus and His crucifixion as the most humiliating act in mankind.
Yet, it is through the fruit of His act – meekness, that HE WON.

There is victory when we react with meekness. In those moments, the wisdom speaks that we decided to look deeper at the situation, with the Lord, before we answer.

Even choosing sometimes to walk away and not stir up a fight, is wisdom, not weakness.

We choose, to not gather anger in our barns because we see the Truth.

And the Truth stands always on our side.

Being angry can only bring health issues.

Being wise, answering without fear, yet bringing constructive arguments against the opponent who is accusing you, brings victory.

Remember: The humiliation has no power to swallow up your identity found in Christ Jesus.

No one can change Who You are in Christ, for it is written in Heaven, with the Blood of Jesus!

Meekness

So now let us see who is meek.

The Christians who are meek, listen to the God’s Word and quietly apply it in their lives (James: 1:21-25)

They trust the Lord with all their heart, believing, that He has the best plan and outcome for them, even in times of tribulation and humiliation.

Meekness is the obedience to the will of the Lord

Meek people are gentle in interaction with others. Yet, this doesn’t mean that they allow being pushed around, or walked all over.

This means when they have to stand firm, they allow God to help them, and that’s when Grace comes in.

Being slow to wrath means observing longer, before deciding how to react.

The meek consult with the Lord and ask for help, so that they might not react impulsively, violently, or aggressively (this includes mean words, nonconstructive criticism, and alike).

Grace interferes, and they are able to control their reaction to the provocations and temptations, to answer in gentleness (Proverbs 14:29)

The meek, lovingly, bear other’s burdens with them.

With the grace and the help of the Holy Spirit, they can endure hard times and overlook offenses, not letting anger stir up in their hearts (Ephesians 4:1-3; Colossians 3:12-13)

The mentality of suck behavior is rooted deeply in seeking the righteousness of God above all else, letting God deal with the enemies because the battle is the Lord’s.
