Chat With Petar About Him And His Work!

This is one of the greatest artists (and photographers) we have come across on social media – Petar S., popularly known as @peterflorrick.

You may see his breathtaking sunsets, the romantic undertones of his scenes rich in natural surroundings, and the reels that portray the big lake of the city of Ohrid.

What motivated us to get in touch with him for an interview? In other words, his desire to keep swimming in the ocean of creativity and push harder than he did yesterday, believing that he can find a way to express his uniqueness in all he does.

Q: How did the inspiration for your landscape photography come to you?

I started from an early age when I got my first camera.

I was driven by a deep desire to capture everything on camera. As time went by phones became popular, and I started making photos even using my phone and editing them with just a simple tool by colorizing and adjusting the settings.

My passion grew more and more as the years went by, and I purchased my first digital camera. And with all the tools and apps we have at our disposal on our phones, editing images is simple. I had a ton of options for how to crop, edit, and make them look more professional.

Q: When did you start taking sunset photographs on your camera?

I began with spontaneous ideas and street photography before progressing on to more organized Instagram color theme in line with the trend of 2017.

The sunsets this town has to offer served as my inspiration. My aim is to be authentic, unique, and creative in capturing them. I want to stand out from everyone else as an artist and have my own original way of expressing myself. And also to develop my talent and become more creative in the future.

Q: How did you transfer to making videos?

Everyone was eager to create short videos as the trends for reels in 2020 popped up.

The reels are a collection of photographs that together create a longer story and allow you to express the story using more vivid emotions and colors to portray nature as it is in real life.

I could observe my progression as I made them over the years, from creating scenes at random, to more professional scenes born from a single idea.

Q: How did you come up with the idea to create romantic scenes for loved ones beside the lake?

Other creators were emphasizing the idea of people gathering and having fun on the beach with baskets of wine and other items. I wanted to try to do something similar but stay authentic at the same time. The basic idea was to make something that will inspire other people to go on a picnic beside a beautiful lake and watch sunsets.

We have noticed that he follows trends on Instagram but doesn’t copy others, rather gets inspired by others’ content and creates his own unique and authentic ones.

And sure enough, the photos he takes are breathtaking!

Q: When someone is starting with their ideas that are differing from the crowd, disappointments or negative comments come against your work in the beginning. So, how did you cope with it and managed to look on the bright side?

Right from the beginning when everyone was posting about themselves my passion was to post about landscaping and nature in general.

Almost every time you start doing something different from the crowd you will be seen as the black duck among the swans, but the truth is their perspective of my success was blur, but it wasn’t blur to me.

I wanna do what I love to do, and I am going to do it, despite their negative feedback on my first steps toward achievements.

For example, I enjoyed using Photoshop to create animation. For some people, posting animations was just a very stupid thing to do, but to me, it was beautiful. However, I wasn’t disappointed by their opinions because it didn’t affect me in any way.

Q:How has this hobby, or better said when you are taking photos or creating reels—evolved or changed your character over the past ten years?

Everyone can see improvement in my photos from the time I started publishing in 2016 until today. I have really increased my creativity, and I get better every year.

I also have fun when I am photographing. As I started working with editing and spending more time on the photos my eye got sharpened with details. And also my confidence has become better because my photos are now recognized and loved by a lot of people.

I get positive commentaries. It’s good when I can see other perspectives that are much better than the feedback from the environment where I live.

Q:What do you find to be the most motivating while you are taking photos or making videos?

I have a vision (idea) in my head of what I want to show through my photo when I see a stunning landscape sight, such as a sunset and a beach, and I’m working on making that idea a reality.

I have fun making videos and taking photos, I feel relaxed, and it satisfies me. I am also very focused, and I feel excited that my idea will be shown to a wider audience.

Q: How did you come up with the idea of making romantic love scenes for loved ones?

Well, it was more out of fun, just to bring a little change in showing something different yet connected with the main theme that I have – combined with the sunset and the beach.

Q: What kind of impact do you hope your photos will have on society?

Not every day I photograph the sunsets because there are times when I love to just watch it, to just admire it. I love to work by myself and to explain my perspective and point of view, my ideas, and I want people to be able to see what my eyes see.

My main wish is for people to go outside more, to visit nature more openly. That kind of social influence is what I aim for.

We find it fascinating that every single photo is authentic, unique, and not a copy of someone else’s work.

Q: What is the future look like for you?

I want to continue working on acquiring new skills so that I may work professionally.

My ultimate goal is to work as a travel photographer who documents sunsets in various locations.

I’m also really thrilled about my ideas coming true because of the traffic and how people are drawn to my photos.

You must work harder, see the bigger picture, and post photos of your original, creative ideas.

Q: What is the motto that keeps you from giving up?

Without a doubt, strangers are more likely to support you than your best friends.

Negative comments or feedback regarding your ideas shouldn’t be taken too seriously because they often come from people who, deep down, want to start doing the same thing but are too afraid to begin. Instead, you should be persistent and just start.

I encourage people to try it regardless of whether it works or not so they can be sure.

Q: What advice do you have for the professionals?

To help other creators in their niches who are less well-known than they are, and to spread the word about their posts, in other words, to share each other’s work because doing so can help advance someone else’s career and brighten their day with just one share.

Q: Do you hope to one day show your photography collection at an exhibition?

Yes, I would love to. i have a great desire for it.

Q: What is the motivation for the younger generations?

To make their profiles professional instead of personal, in order for them to turn it into a business in the future.

Everyone occasionally takes photos or videos that they find interesting but haven’t published or posted on social media platforms.

Usually, people have fearful thoughts, but all they need is an Instagram profile or other social media platform to get started. Along the way, you will learn the editing part; for instance, take my example.

As your desire for more grows, you would want to learn more, and every day is a new day to learn something.

Q: Last but not least what is the most inspiring comment you have ever gotten on your photos?

One time someone commented that simply watching my sunset videos and photos brought back memories of their own sunset watching experiences. This comment inspired both them and me because I can see how it affects other people’s life for the better.
